Dark Chocolate Cage Cake

  • 1 (7-inch) Hy-Vee Bakery 2-tier frosted chocolate cake
  • 1 cup dark chocolate melting wafers
  • Fresh berries, such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries, for garnish
  • Chocolate curls, for garnish

Cut a piece of parchment paper into a 22 x 4-inch rectangle; place on top of a larger piece of parchment paper on a clean flat work surface. Place Hy-Vee Bakery chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting on a serving plate; set aside.
Place dark chocolate in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on HIGH at 30-second intervals until melted, stirring each time. If desired, transfer chocolate to a pastry bag fitted with a small round piping tip. Pipe or drizzle chocolate onto the rectangle parchment paper using the larger sheet of parchment paper to catch excess chocolate. Let stand until just set but still pliable.
Carefully pick up parchment rectangle and wrap around side of cake, pressing chocolate into frosting. Let stand 20 minutes or until chocolate is completely set. Carefully peel away parchment paper from chocolate. Garnish top with fresh berries and chocolate curls, if desired.
